Comedy at the Muse—Actor/Comedian Matt Walsh comes home

Matt Walsh and other local comedians will be spoofing Chicago sports in a live version of their Bear Down Podcast, which will be podcast live and filmed live for posterity and later distribution this Friday, June 15 from 7 to 9pm at the Frugal Muse.  Free beer and snacks will also be provided.

Manager Paul Garrison explains, “We met actor/comedian Matt Walsh many years ago when his father, Dick Walsh, a customer of ours, suggested we host an event with his son so all his friends he grew up with could come and welcome him home from California.  Despite the short notice and zero advertising, we had over thirty fans show up to greet Matt and ask him questions about his career.”

Matt was born in Chicago and then moved out to the western suburbs, attending Hindsdale South and working at Papa Passero’s in Westmont.  After high school he honed his comic improv skills at Second City, Improv Olympic and The Annoyance Theater before going to Hollywood to star in TV and film.  His most recent and perhaps greatest role to date is in the hit HBO series Veep, also starring Julia Luis Dreyfus, now in its second season.

Frugal Muse Books, Music and Movies has hosted many big events over the years, including book signings with Rebecca Makkai, Thom Hartmann and most recently Bill Press as well as live music, open mic’s and this Friday, now, live comedy.  All events are completely free.

The Frugal Muse Books is located at 7511 Lemont Road in Darien.
